DeVotchKa I’m a gypsy punk band American born in 1997 in Denver. Their name comes from a word meaning “little girlz” or “little girl”. The DeVotchKa are a group of four multi-instrumentalists artists (Nick Urata, Tom Hagerman, Jeanie Schroeder, Shawn King) and their music is classified primarily as gypsy punk. It is a mix of genres and influences coming mainly from Europe although the group is American. Originally they were born as an accompaniment to show “burlesque”, often with the queen of the genre: the model Dita Von Teese. Later, two of their songs have participated as a soundtrack in the film “Everything is Illuminated” and “Little Miss Sunshine”. In 2008 they were named the “best new band of Colorado” according to the newspaper The Phoenix. From ’97 on are authors of seven albums. The song chosen is “Clockwise Witness”, a song sweet, melodic and alternative dated 2008.

I DeVotchKa sono un gruppo composto da quattro artisti polistrumentisti (Nick Urata, Tom Hagerman, Jeanie Shroeder, Shawn King), la loro musica che è classificata in primo luogo come gipsy punk è un miscuglio di generi e influenze provenienti soprattutto dall’Europa sebbene il gruppo sia americano. Originariamente sono nati come accompagnamento a show “burlesque”, spesso insieme alla regina del genere: la modella Dita Von Teese. In seguito due loro brani hanno partecipato come colonna sonora nei film “Ogni cosa è illuminata” e Little Miss Sunshine. Nel 2008 inoltre, vengono nominati come la “nuova miglior band del Colorado” secondo il giornale The Phoenix. Dal ’97 ad oggi sono autori di ben sette album.
